Rocket League - Football, WITH CARS

When Rocket League first came out, it was free on PSN and I was still apprehensive to download it. Is it because of my hate for all things sport, or because driving games are the bane of my life? Nope, it was a mixture of both, football and cars, I could think of nothing worse. However it was free and who doesn't like free shit? So I went ahead and downloaded it, with expectations to delete it after one play, if after playing it at all.

So I turned it on and first thing I hear is the music, which I loved. It was just a nice relaxing tune which I didn't expect. Then I noticed I could customize my car, any game that gives me customization options of my player/character/car etc instantly gets good game points. You can't do much to begin with, so I go in to an offline mode game to figure out how to even play the game. So I quickly got around to learning the buttons, but not any techniques.

I got off it after about two games with a sense of 'meh, that could of been better', yet within hours I was back to it. Something was compelling me to play it, and I soon delved in to the Online arenas. As my skills increased and I found myself frequently getting MVP, I was dragged in to the game. Customizing my car (which is now purple with a witch hat on top) and getting goals quite often I was thrilled. This pulled in with playing with friends (which you can see from our videos below) really make this game what it is all about. To me, this game is just a bit of fun, ramming in to the opposing team and blowing them all, all whilst smacking a really bouncy ball around a virtual arena.

I say this all from a good place, without having played it today as I am sure my opinion would be much different had I played online today. This would have brought me to constantly swear about my team mates and how there is a complete lack of teamwork on this game. The online community for this game seems to be split in to two parts, the try hards and the glory hunters. By that I mean you have the group who genuinely want to try and work as a team, then you have the absolute morons who will ram you when you're about to score, or are with the ball because they want to be the ones to score. This, for me, really detracts from the online experience and is a massive reason I tend to avoid online games.

Overall, Rocket League is a fun, quirky little game that's good to pass quite a bit of spare time, because you'll find yourself saying 'one more match'. Would I pay the price they're expecting now? Hell no, because without knowing what to expect from it, I wouldn't dive head first. Once you get in to it though, it becomes quite fun and time consuming.

Pros:
- Able to customize your cars
- Fun gameplay
- great killer of spare time

Cons:
- Glory Hunters online
- Football

Overall: 5.4/10

And to readers of the article, a second Rocket League video before anyone else!

Diablo 3 - Reaper Of Your Time

Diablo has always been up there as one of the best RPG (action role-playing, hack 'n' slash) that graces the market and they really have brought their A Game with Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition. This game has been out for some time now and yet it keeps drawing me back for more and more. First of let's just say, it's not because of the story. Infact I haven't played the story again since I first completed the game, there's just nothing more to the story than what you get from it initially. What you do get from this game though (and thank God) is constant updates filled with new content.

This keeps the game feeling incredibly fresh throughout with myself still finding new things over a year on. The updates are always introducing new features or dungeon areas, with one of my favourite updates being Kanai's Cube. This cube allows you to do many things, but the best is the ability to extract powers from Legendary Items and equip them to your player, giving some amazing abilities. As shown in the video below, one of my equipped powers allows me to cast one Mana consuming ability, for it to auto-cast another without any Mana being consumed.

That all being said, the game can become extremely repetitive. Some missions you will get constantly once you unlock Adventure Mode which can become laborious, but once you do higher levels, it becomes a bit better as you get more Loot. However you can keep it a challenge by upping the difficulty levels which is the best way, or creating a new character to start fresh and unlock more abilities. Myself, I currently have a Witch Doctor along with my Wizard for this exact reason.

The game doesn't feature much in terms of customization for your Characters, you select a class and a gender, then it gives you a pre-built character. This doesn't detract much from the game, as your armor can be changed to look a bit different through transmutes or clothes dyes. However it does feel lacking if, like me, you enjoy creating your own character from scratch to really make it your own adventure.

If you play games online, this is definitely one to do just that on to as it increases the challenge, but also increases the rewards. Teaming with up to an additional three people, you can become an incredible force against the hordes, but it becomes hard if you all have the same class as the choice is limited.

With all this in mind, this game is still drawing me back to this day, with the new content and the simple pleasure of being able to run through hordes of enemies and slaying them with ease if I so wish, or with a slight challenge if I up the difficulty quite high. Do I recommend this game? Definitely. You can pick it up quite cheap now at CEX and Game, and with myself getting over a Year of gameplay out of it (and I expect much more) I can't see why anyone should be without this game.

Pros:
- New features added constantly
- Lots of playtime
- Challenges feel rewarding

Cons:
- Repetitiveness
- Lack of character customization

Overall: 8/10
