Borderlands 3 Announcement!

Borderlands has been gone for a while, except for its lack luster prequel and it's Tales From series, so personally I thought we wouldn't be getting a third one. Then out of nowhere, BAM, a sequel has finally been announced! Revealing it at PAX, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said "It's no secret, obviously there's going to be another Borderlands" followed by "We don't even know if we're going to call it that. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know".

So we could be looking at a skip over Borderlands 3 straight to 4, and with the games sense of humour, that could well be true. To add on to this, it appears that artist Sergi Brosa has confirmed he is also working on the game:

Whilst at PAX they also discussed some of the ideas they are throwing around in the stage of production they are in, that one character they want to bring in is Mechanic Scooters son, Scooper.

The studio also says that Battleborn is going to have plenty of Borderlands easter eggs, albeit from the older games in the series. However they did discuss at the panel about adding in some easter eggs for Borderlands 3 in DLC that is coming to Battleborn.

Obviously none of this is written in stone as they wish to get Battleborn and its DLC out before starting the production of the next Borderlands but they are very much in the idea stage. Great news for anyone who's a fan of the series. Should we hear more, we'll keep you up to date!

Ratchet and Clank - THE Reboot

HOLY SHIT, was my first reaction as I woke up this morning to get Ratchet and Clank. Remembering all the hours I sank in to the original series all the way up until the final iteration on the PS3, hoping that this will breathe a new life in to the series and bring a load of sequels along with it. Then I thought, what if its a total failure? This could be the end of one of my favorite game titles? Gladly I was proved wrong within minutes of starting the game.

Initially it starts with a simple cutscene, with a character discussing how he's just bought the new Ratchet and Clank game, of the Holo-Film, a reference to what has happened with this game. Quark then starts to tell the story from his perspective, and throughout the missions so far, he has given parts of commentary over time, usually sarcastically as you swim and he advises 'as Ratchet knows, he cannot breathe underwater'.

The story departs a bit from what we are used to from the previous series. Within this universe, Dr Nefarious is a mad scientist who is working for Chairman Drek, but mostly the story goes along the same lines so far with Drek looking to build a planet bu consuming others. One thing I need to mention is the Plumber, who in the previous series was a good comedic staple. Here you come along him and he asks if you have met him before, as he has a case of Deja-Vu. Then as he leaves, he shouts 'see you in the next reboot' clearly poking fun at the situation with this game.

Next up are the graphics, they are beautiful. As you can see from the screenshot below I took on the first planet, they haven't tried to make the game realistic, but they have made it beautifully detailed, with even little rocks being able to be pushed around when you run over them. This creates for a brilliant atmosphere throughout the game and really gives the reboot a lot of kudos from me. The gameplay is just as perfect as it has always been also. Keeping the elements brought to the game in the later series such as strafing, these are available from the start, along with some impressive additions to the arsenal.

With only four guns unlocked for me at the time of writing, I already have my favourites. So far I have the Blaster, Pyro, Fusion Bomb and Proton Drum, with the Fusion and Proton Drum being my two most used so far. The Proton Drum is new to the series and creates a series of shockwaves damaging enemies within range, good for taking out spawning groups (damn sandsharks). They've also kept the Raritanium upgrade system that was seen towards the end of the series, where you are given a grid and select the upgrades as you go along, but as your weapon becomes more powerful through the destruction of enemies, more become available.

Another new feature brought it to the reboot is collectors cards. By defeating enemies or accessing secret areas, you can find these cards. What use they have, I am not sure yet, but they also give a history of the games. For example, I currently have one of the Dual Pythons, which it tells me were first brought about in Ratchet Gladiator. It's a nice touch to include a little bit more of the history in the game.

So far the planets are also keeping true to their original iterations also, such as Blackwater City hosting the hoverboard race, but they have added a few little bits to keep the long term fans a little bit inquisitive as to where they are going. The Gold Bolts are still a feature in the game, but are used to unlock cheats and costumes. What they are I'm not sure yet, but I'll hopefully find out soon enough!

This all being said, I have found a few bugs which I hope Insomniac Address, including floating ammo (little inconvenience) and occasionally voices overlapping each other. Neither really detract from the game, but are a little annoying when you notice them.

I am incredibly impressed with how Ratchet and Clank has come along and how gorgeous this game is. It's exciting to think about what might come along as I progress through the game, so for now I won't give this a rating, I will say however from the few hours I have played that IT IS WORTH IT! I picked it up for £30 (much cheaper than most releases) at my local ASDA (Walmart for American readers) so it's quite cheap considering. I'll release a full review on completion of the game, but check out our YouTube channel linked below where I will be for sure uploading some gameplay videos.

Keep an eye out for our review of the film with its release next Friday!

Samurai Warriors 4-2 - One Man Army

Samurai Warriors isn't a game you'd think to buy on the day of release. Hell I hadn't heard of it until I saw it on the shelf in my local GAME store that I thought 'oo that looks like Dynasty Warriors'. To anyone who has heard of Samurai Warriors, it is in fact actually made by the developers of Dynasty Warriors, and both play exactly the same. The basis of these games is set in Feudal Japan, with clans facing each other for rule over the lands. You play as one Captain, taking control as your run through thousands of enemies at a time to make sure the battle turns in your favor.

Samurai Warriors 4-2 changes this up a bit however and allows creation of your own Captain also. Along with the already impressive list of pre-built characters in which the story campaigns take place (one for each faction), once completed, you can take your custom characters in to these campaigns and play as you wish to play, with your weapon of choice. With this comes a levelling system, which unblocks areas on the skill board, however these then require Skillbooks to unlock. These eventually unlock different skills such as increasing speed / strength temportarily. It takes quite a bit of grinding unfortunately but it can be worth it when you unlock an Epiphany skill.

Epiphany skills can be equipped to any character once unlocked and do various things which standard skills can't. For example some of the ones I have unlocked so far include adding an elemental attack to every attack, and another allows you to damage enemies just by running in to them. All these skills come in great use when trying to get the best weapons for your characters, or for a speed run in the challenge survival mode.

The biggest downside to the game however is it's repetitiveness. A lot of the objectives given to you during the battle tend to be 'go here, kill captain' or something similar. Some campaigns to change it up a bit, by changing the battlefield mid fight through use of floods or traps but they generally follow the same pattern. Don't get me wrong however, the game is still fun and does feature some challenges in terms of doing multiple things at once across the battlefield.

Overall whilst Samurai Warriors is repetitive, the gameplay is fun and the character customization is quirky, cute and always entertaining.

Pros:
- Custom Characters
- Multiple Campaigns

Cons:

- Repetitive
- No English Speaking (doesn't detract from gameplay however)

Overall: 5.6/10

Rocket League - Football, WITH CARS

When Rocket League first came out, it was free on PSN and I was still apprehensive to download it. Is it because of my hate for all things sport, or because driving games are the bane of my life? Nope, it was a mixture of both, football and cars, I could think of nothing worse. However it was free and who doesn't like free shit? So I went ahead and downloaded it, with expectations to delete it after one play, if after playing it at all.

So I turned it on and first thing I hear is the music, which I loved. It was just a nice relaxing tune which I didn't expect. Then I noticed I could customize my car, any game that gives me customization options of my player/character/car etc instantly gets good game points. You can't do much to begin with, so I go in to an offline mode game to figure out how to even play the game. So I quickly got around to learning the buttons, but not any techniques.

I got off it after about two games with a sense of 'meh, that could of been better', yet within hours I was back to it. Something was compelling me to play it, and I soon delved in to the Online arenas. As my skills increased and I found myself frequently getting MVP, I was dragged in to the game. Customizing my car (which is now purple with a witch hat on top) and getting goals quite often I was thrilled. This pulled in with playing with friends (which you can see from our videos below) really make this game what it is all about. To me, this game is just a bit of fun, ramming in to the opposing team and blowing them all, all whilst smacking a really bouncy ball around a virtual arena.

I say this all from a good place, without having played it today as I am sure my opinion would be much different had I played online today. This would have brought me to constantly swear about my team mates and how there is a complete lack of teamwork on this game. The online community for this game seems to be split in to two parts, the try hards and the glory hunters. By that I mean you have the group who genuinely want to try and work as a team, then you have the absolute morons who will ram you when you're about to score, or are with the ball because they want to be the ones to score. This, for me, really detracts from the online experience and is a massive reason I tend to avoid online games.

Overall, Rocket League is a fun, quirky little game that's good to pass quite a bit of spare time, because you'll find yourself saying 'one more match'. Would I pay the price they're expecting now? Hell no, because without knowing what to expect from it, I wouldn't dive head first. Once you get in to it though, it becomes quite fun and time consuming.

Pros:
- Able to customize your cars
- Fun gameplay
- great killer of spare time

Cons:
- Glory Hunters online
- Football

Overall: 5.4/10

And to readers of the article, a second Rocket League video before anyone else!

Zootropolis - One Massive Political Statement

Being a Disney film, Zootropolis was bound to have a deeper meaner behind it than what it advertised, something for the adults to focus on. We went to see this today (we LOVE Disney) and well it didn't beat around the bush when it came to the political statements. Now a brief warning, this article will contain spoilers for the film, so please beware as you read on if you don't want it spoiled!

The films starts by setting out how animals live now, predator and prey. It moves forward to show the how they live in the Zootropolis Universe, where animals are more human like through evolution. They live in sprawling cities, along with farms and live alongside one another, even working together. However it isn't long before the movie makes its first statement. When Judy Hopps (the main protagonist) discusses with her parents how she wants to become a Police Officer when she is older, they instantly shoot her down and tell her to forget her dreams as they never come true. This is quite the reflection on the world today where young children are constantly put down that they can't achieve, being Disney however they are 'Cup is always full' people and Judy takes none of it.

Flash forward to a Young Adult Judy and she is now in a Police Academy where she is belitted for being part of the Prey group, rather than the burly Predators such as the Rhinos and Elephants. As she passes through and becomes an Officer, she is told of a missing persons case where 14 predators have gone missing, however she is the only Officer to not get given the case and gets put on to Traffic Duty. This could be taken in two ways as another statement, one would be that as a female character, she isn't strong or good enough to be put on to the larger cases. Alternatively this could be making that the smaller person can't do the job correctly, because they're not strong enough compared to the bigger types, case being the Rhinos/Lions etc.

Now for the biggest statement within the movie, minority segregation. As the film progress' Officer Hopps is given an ultimatum, solve the case in 48 hours, or resign from the police force. The case she is given is one of the missing predator case files. She soon makes her way through this with her enemy turned friend Nick, and finds that it is all part of a plot to turn the predators back in to savages to give them a bad image. As the prey outnumbers the predator 10/1, this makes the prey want to segregate the predators, pushing them away and one line saying 'go back to the jungle where you belong'. This is a clear message pushing at current events worldwide where due to the acts of a few, the rest are being punished, as with ISIS and the Muslim Population.

The main Antagonist in the movie puts on a sweet demeanor for the majority of the movie, trying to win over people whilst being the mastermind behind the whole plot to segregate the minority. Which reminded me mostly of Donald Trump, that and the antagonist having stupid white hair in likeness. Overall this film, whilst not only being quite funny, was a massive political statement against segregation due to the actions of a mere few. This teaches a very good lesson to the younger generation and one that needs to be pushed out by the parents who accompany them to watch the film.

Pros:
- Brilliant Lesson to be learnt
- Good story telling throughout

Cons:
- Not enough Shakira as Gazzelle
- Could be more comedy throughout

Overall: 8.3/10

Batman vs Superman - Surprisingly Good

This past weekend I went to see the new entry in the slowly growing DCU, Batman vs Superman which I can say I went in with a bit of bias against the film. Due on two parts, the reviews that had been coming out left, right and centre, along with my utter love for everything Marvel. It was also my first time watching a film in 3D Imax, which I can say really added to the film. As we went in to watch the film, I was thinking 'I really hope this isn't a pile of crap like the reviews are saying', however I came out thinking 'bloody hell that was brilliant'!

Straight from the off however, I did not like Ben Affleck's Batman. I understand he has lost Robin in the film and he has now been doing the whole Dark Knight gig for a long time to see himself not give two fucks anymore but it just didn't do it for me. There's not one thing I can put my finger on, but I just didn't like this incarnation of the caped crusader.

However the same cannot be said for Wonder Woman and Superman, both were actually incredible. Wonder Woman was picked up perfectly and not given an entire backstory spoon fed to us which made her quite likeable. Superman because Henry Cavill, need I say more? These two were perfect for their roles and WW brought about some much needed female bad-assery to the Superhero Movies.

That all being said, I do hope they focus on Wonder Woman's backstory for her solo film as I believe that would be a nice tie-in, or at least give it a bit of focus as to why she was doing what she was in the film, so it's not just a quick here's some information, quickly digest it scenario.

Which leads me on to a part of the film which really left a sour taste in my mouth. The whole 'surveillance' thing that Lex Luthor had going on. So somehow with facial recognition he figured it was the same woman from years ago, then hacked a Cash Machine camera to get a picture? Then he happened to have some CCTV showing the Flash stopping a robbery, the diaries of the scientist creating Cyborg and footage of Aquaman emerging under the water? I just found that part absolutely ridiculous that he had all this footage of Super humans and the whole encryption was poor. Just bothered me an awful lot.

There's a few extra parts which also bothered me, which didn't make too much sense, which were in Bruce Wayne's dream sequences. He would randomly pop in to these dream sequences, such as seeing Cyborg come from a warp hole and give him advice. These aren't explained too much in the film, however the DVD release is bringing in a lot of scenes that were cut from the film, hopefully explaining these a bit more.

Overall the film was definitely watchable and if you enjoy Super films, ignore the critics and go watch it, as it is a very enjoyable experience.

Pros:
- Good Action
- Wonder Woman makes a perfect entrance
- HENRY CAVILL

Cons:
- Batfleck
- Poor introduction of other Supers

Overall: 7.9/10

Final Fantasy XV - Episode HOLY CRAP!

Final Fantasy XV has been a long time coming, initially titled Final Fantasy XIII Versus, it disappeared for a long time before emerging out of nowhere as XV. Without an official set release date (unless rumours are to be believed, more below) we're nowhere yet as to finding out more about the game and how brilliant it is going to be. Square Enix are having a press conference entitled Uncovered: Final Fantasy VX, which we hope will bring an announcement on the game release date along with some more information on a release date.

However if rumour is believed as posted by PC Advisor [1] then the release date has been leaked and will be released on Friday 30th September 2016! This isn't too long to wait and for what it's worth, the game looks set to be absolutely incredible. I fortunately was one of the lucky ones who have been able to play the Episode: Duscae demo along with it's updates and it looks beautiful.

Now I am aware that this is only a demo (which is HUGE in file size too) and things are likely to change but from what I can tell you, it looks nothing short of amazing. The graphics are stunning as always with any entry in the Final Fantasy series and really look the part of the next gen of consoles. Pretty much everything you can see in the video below you can venture too and see the world for yourself. With this only being part of a demo also, you can expect the full game to be massive.

The only thing I'm still a little bit on the con side about is the battle system. Now I love a bit of button mashing, but when it's button mashing, mixed with awkward controls and the need for strategy, then it gets a bit much. The controls have been fixed up a little bit along with the use of Noctis powers however there is still a certain clunkiness to them that makes it more awkward. I'm definitely going to miss the turn based battles, however I do believe this is a good departure from the ATB Final Fantasy XIII system.

Personally I think the FFXII system would of worked perfectly for this game, but as they have included enemies that require towering and climbing buildings to fight, I don't it would of worked for their vision. Overall from what the demo shows, Final Fantasy looks set to only be moving onward and upward with what is going to be a beautiful game none the less. What do you think of the information and footage we have been given so far? Let us know in the comments below!
