Kingdom Hearts III - What do you want to see?

Me and my better half have spent a LOT of time this weekend replaying one of my favourite games that I have ever played, Kingdom Hearts. It's complex story of friendship, light vs dark, is a reason it always pulls me back and the gameplay just adds to that. Sure sometimes it can feel really frustrating but it's a perfect challenge where strategy meets fun. It's quirky nature of mixing the worlds of Final Fantasy with Disney along with a few of its own unique characters is quite odd, but it somehow works.

If you haven't played Kingdom Hearts (and why the hell haven't you?) it's the story of a young boy named Sora who seeks to travel the worlds with his friends Riku and Kairi, but as they prepare to set off, their world is cast in to darkness and Sora gains the power of the mysterious Keyblade. Becoming separated from his friends, he searches for them across the varying worlds, whilst fighting against the Heartless.

The story is vast and once you get in to the sequels it can become confusing but to me, that is one of the wonderful things about this game series. The story spans so much time and the creativity behind it is massive, but it leads me to think, what will Kingdom Hearts III bring to the table?

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Now we already know that Kingdom Hearts III will be set out among the new Keyblade War as Sora found out at the end of Dream Drop Distance he isn't a true wielder of the Keyblade. We also know that it will add two new worlds which have been announced so far, that of Tangled and (what I think is the greatest recently) Big Hero 6! It's going to be a long time coming for this game, and hopefully it won't be the last but with how long we have been waiting, it needs to be a MASSIVE game to not feel like a slightly let down. However what else would we like to see from such a game?

Well first of all I'd like to see the introduction of numerous new worlds to the series. Lots of the world used throughout the series have been used too many times now to really bring too much new to the game. So who would I like to see? Well with Disney's acquisition of Marvel and Pixar, that gives us a lot of choice. I would LOVE to see Monsters Inc make it in to the KH Universe, with it's diversity of Monsters, could Sora end up back on Destiny Island through one of the doors? Alternatively I would love to see some aspects of the Marvel Universe in KH but could they really pull it off in a way where it wouldn't be watered down and slightly childish due to the nature and audience of Kingdom Hearts? In that way, they managed to somehow fit Pirates Of The Caribbean in to the universe even if it didn't particularly work well with the art style of Kingdom Hearts.

In along with the new worlds, it appears there are also a stream of new features coming along with the game as well. In the trailers that have been released, we can see Sora use two guns instead of the Keyblade. Does this mean he has the ability to morph his keyblade in to varying weapons to use in the battle against the Darkness? One other thing that is quite obvious is the summoning of massive weapons, we see not only the train against the Titan, but also a ship he swings in to attack the enemies. This along with the movement from Dream Drop Distance which I hope makes a return, could lead to some very fast paced gameplay that may put a few people off, but I for one am really looking forward to this.

However it is looking like we may be looking at more of a wait yet, with KH 2.8 HD Remix Final Chapter Prologue yet to come out this year.
